I am excited to finally reach a near final design for the controller. After testing out the two working controllers for functionality and ergonomics, the final controller is nearlly finished. It contains elements from the Traktor S4, APC Mini, and Pioneer DDJ SX.
The Functionality so far will include, looping, fx, sample triggering, instruments (VSTs), and mixing.
SO how does it change the game?
New forms of rhythm synthesis now emerge as the tabla player is now given access to electronic controls. They can create more complex patterns and sounds, which was not possible before. Furthermore the ergonomics and acoustics of the tabla are not jeopardized, when making this modification, so the player can integrate the controller into their current playing style.
This can be expanded to almost all hand drums.
